Encore Labs performs tests for both types of licensed marijuana use.

Medical Marijuana and Adult Use of Marijuana. For each type of regulated cannabis, two tests can be performed: compliance testing and quality assurance testing (also referred to as R&D testing). Each test is performed for different reasons. Compliance testing is performed on cannabis and manufactured cannabis products to assess whether the batch meets requirements set by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). The success or failure of the sample provided determines if the business is legally allowed to sell these products. Due to the regulatory nature of compliance testing, extra steps are required by the state to ensure the legitimacy of the results.

The Arizona cannabis compliance testing process starts with ensuring the proper documentation is presented to our cannabis testing lab prior to scheduling the compliance pick up or drop off.

There are many requirements set by the Arizona Department of Health that the sample must meet before it can be tested including being held in a container that will not react with or leach into the sample as well as being labeled with the registry identification number of the establishment requesting testing, the amount, the strain, the batch number, the storage temperature, and the date of sampling.

Once at the lab, the sample is prepared for a number of required tests.

The tests required are dependent upon sample type. Once the analysis is complete, Encore Labs personnel will work with a senior laboratory member to prepare a Certificate of Analysis, which contains the results of the tests and information as to whether or not the sample passed or failed. This certificate is then sent to the client to inform them if they can legally sell their products or not.

On the other hand, the Quality Assurance (R&D) test is much simpler and easier.

It’s similar to Arizona compliance testing, but there are no strict requirements for how the batch is sampled or labeled prior to testing.

This test is intended for use by manufacturers and cultivators to know and improve upon the quality of their products. The same tests that are performed for compliance reasons are offered, but the client can pick and choose which ones they want to apply. This test is useful to determine whether a new batch is of a high enough quality to sell to customers, but it does not carry the weight that the compliance test does.
